Some Traditions of Barangay Lucio Laurel

Lucio Laurel is a barangay in the municipality of Gloria, in the province of Oriental Mindoro. 

As a citizen of this barangay, I became fond of the customs and traditions that are performed by the people in my community. Today, let me share to you some of these.

1. Senior Citizens' Night

Senior Citizens' Night became one of the well known tradition in this barangay that happens every month of May. The purpose of this event is to provide entertainment, not just for the middle-aged citizens, but also for the senior adults. Unlike the past years, this year became more enjoyable because they have Gandang Grandma Pageant.

2. Bayanihan

The cooperation of Laurelians is really amazing. When there are calamities and problems, they gather together to help each other. Moreover, they are also active in participating general cleaning. 

3. Fiesta

The feast of the Lady of Fatima is one of the most awaited event here in barangay Lucio Laurel. This is celebrated in the 13th day of May. In days before the feast, there are activities such as basketball league, volleyball league, and pageants like Miss Teen. On the other hand, the Laurelians conducts procession with the patron of the Lady of Fatima. Some of them visit every house to offer short prayer. And of course, the banquets are always present.

In conclusion, there are lots of tradition in Lucio Laurel that can be enjoyed by the citizens, as well as the visitors. Although it is just a small community, the people can have the fun experience by means of practicing the traditions.
